Description

Note: Not FAA Approved. Intended for use in experimental aircraft only. The ETX900 is lightweight and crazy powerful! This battery is intended for 540ci engine size or less; 80 amp alternator/generator or less. The ETX battery series is fully protected by an integrated battery management system (BMS). The BMS protects the cellÂ’s from over discharge, over charge, short circuit, temperature, in addition to cell balancing to ensure charge levels are equal. Additionally, the ETX-Hundred-Series aircraft batteries have redundant electronic circuits and battery fault indication. The fault indicator can be connected into your EFIS or wired to a 12volt LED light on your control panel to alert you to the state of charge and state of health of the battery. In a word WOW. I am building a Rans S-19 and was having trouble getting the engine to start for a test run using a lawnmower battery that I had available. NoJoy. I decided to purchase the earth X battery and was blown away by the cranking power. The JABIRU started right up.

We put this battery in a Xenos with an Aerovee Engine. WHAT difference for cranking amps. Now we never have a problem getting the motor running. Also, Im in charge of maintenance for 3 planes – 1 certified and 2 experimental. Ive never had a time where Aircraft Spruce didnt have what I needed. Thanks!

  3. Nick M

Much lighter vs PC680 cranks better and less voltage drop. A pure aircraft battery!

  4. John H

This is my second EarthX battery for my RV7. The current one has been in the plane for 5 years and exhibits NO sign of deterioration. However, I assigned a TBO of 5 years so replace it and keeping in the plane as a back-up (just in case). Could not be happier with EarthX. I highly recommend one for your plane.

    Awesome battery. Great cranking power.

Getting this EXT- 900 Aircraft battery and the battery box that was made for it was a very wise decision. It is so light, it shaved about 10 or more pounds off my gross weight and gave me room for 10 pounds more useful load. So glad I decided to go for the lithium battery this time. It was a little more expensive but well worth the cost.

This is our second EtX900 battery. The first one lasted 6 years and still tests within the minimum spec, but its toward the lower end now so were freshening up to make sure its good for at least 6 more years. The performance of the battery has been flawless and it just amazes me how much power these lighweight batteries can store.

  8. Jeff. B

This is a great battery. My last one was 6+ years old and still going strong. I replaced it because the manufacturer states that it will last up to 6 years,

  9. Roger H

Replaced a functioning nine- year-old EarthX to be on the safe side. Wiring location was slightly different than the older battery but just made a short jumper to resolve the difference. Definitely pleased with the product and will buy again, hopefully in another nine years. 🙂

  10. Gerald S

Very lightweight battery. Cranks my IO 540 easily.

I bought a EXT-900 in November and installed it December 5th. I also installed there LED fault indicator light in my panel. It starts my airplane just fine. But I had nothing but problems with fault indications. Im getting a slow flashing light 5 seconds on and five seconds off 10 minutes after takeoff and it never stops. My systems voltage is running at 14,5 volts. I purchased a Optimate TM271 charger hoping for a fix. But it didnt help. Looks like I wasted may money. Im going back to a Odyssey PC680. Its worked for me for years. Ive lost all confidence in the EARTHX now.

This is the second earthx battery I have purchased from spruce. Quality product and great service…important to leave battery on tender/smart charger.

  13. Steve B

Incredible so far worth every pennny!

  14. Chris M

Excellent battery replacement for the Odyssey in my RV-9. I got 6 years out of the first one,and only replaced it because an over voltage event damaged it. The only issue I had with the replacement is that EarthX relocated the status wire, requiring me to modify my hold down bracket.

  15. Kenneth L

    Received intact, undamaged.

  16. Warren G

So far so good. This is one of those projects that (time will tell). The posts aren’t located favoring one side of the battery like the concord battery, so cables and battery box may require altering. Seems to crank better than the lead/acid batteries. No worries about acid leakage so that’s a huge benefit. Weight reduction is wonderful. Don’t know the exact difference but it’s crazy. All things considered I would buy again.

  17. Mike G

Battery is light weight. However the terminal connectors layout are flawed. They are located on the centerline of the battery, with the terminal bolts flush with the case top. Makes a strong back clamp down arrangement a challenge. Concord and PC680 battery connections are located off center line.

  18. Elisa

Lithium not so good in cold freezing environments, So, I bought a Sodium from aerolithium

  19. Mike W

    Love it worth the money

Less voltage drop, more starting current yield faster starts with less cranking than the Oddysey 925 I replaced with, itself a great battery. Pay attention to Amp/h rating, the Earth/x has about half the capacity of the 925, make sure you understand how much battery reserve you have and of you are ok with it

  21. Kevin D

This battery is replacing a PC680 which has difficulty starting I0-470. The EarthEX spins the starter quickly and maintains starter wrap engagement. Spins fast enough that I can no longer count blades. No kickbacks or backfire on hot starts. Hot start issues seem to be eliminated with more energetic rotation.

  22. Mark H

It reduced the weight by 10 lb (always good) and spun the prop over faster than the AGM battery ever did. Now to see what the long term is like.

  23. Rancherbill

I guess I waited long enough to see if its any good. My wife bought this battery over 7 years ago and installed it in her RV-7 with an ECI 370 CI engine. It is still going strong with no drop in typical voltage. It easily cranks the high compression 370 even when hot and flooded. I normally dont give 5-star reviews, but I cant help it here. When she bought it, I thought it was too expensive, but now I know it was well worth the money.

  24. Kevin W

Great battery. Very light weight. Lots of cranking power.

  25. Gus G

This is my 4th battery and I am super pleased.I have had Oddesey batteries to start my Superior IO-360 in my Experimental GlaStar. They were always sluggish and lasted only 2-1/2 years at best. I started with the PC680 and then to the 26 lb PC925 which wasnt much better. The EarthX was a massive change. With the EarthX, the prop did not stall and the engine started on the 2nd revolution. Additionally the reduction in weight allowed the CG to shift to an optimum position and allowing me to again increase my cargo load to its full 250 lb capacity. Im very pleased.

  26. Jorge T

More starting power and voltage translate into faster starts in engines with electronic ignition, e-mags and so on. Less A/h rating than Oddysey 925, so make sure you are ok with it and of not, consider the larger Earth/x models. Top mounted terminals vs side mounted in the 925 Oddysey may require minor modifications to mounting brackets less weight requires you to recalculate w&b tables

  27. Decosse C

Wild power, low weight. Nothing we have used compares
